Woman jailed 10 months for having sex with a minor

SINGAPORE: A 32—year—old Singaporean divorcee was sentenced to 10 months’ jail for having sex with a minor.
The woman, who has a 14—month—old son, was working as a canteen stall assistant in the victim’s school.
The victim was only 13 years old at the time of the incident.
The court was told that the two had contacted each other through the victim’s mother, who was taking care of the divorcee’s child.
On her mother’s behalf, the victim had to regularly send SMS messages to the divorcee for childcare arrangements.
This led to the divorcee obtaining the victim’s phone number and her regular calls to him.
They had sex a total of seven times before they were found out.
The divorcee, who was suffering from depression at the time, is the second woman to be jailed this year for having sex with a boy below 16.
